The medication represents an oral diabetes drug and is presupposed for the patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent). It assists with insulin interaction in the organism. The medication can be used either independently or in complex with insulin or other diabetes drugs.

Intolerance to glimepiride, state of diabetic ketoacidosis; problems with the heart or liver, G6PD, adrenal or pituitary gland problems, states of pregnancy or nursing can serve as contraindications for the therapy with the drug.

Be careful when combining Amaryl with other medications as some of them can increase your blood sugar and cause hyperglycemia, others on the contrary may reduce your blood sugar and evoke hypoglycemia, and some medications just can bring about unpredictable results. Do without alcohol and excessive sunlight.

Amaryl is usually taken with the first meal of the day washed down with water. The medication must be taken on a regular basis no longer and not exceeding the necessary amount. In case you left out a dose do not try to make up for it taking two at once. The therapy also includes dieting and a complex of physical exercises as a rule.

Remember that overdose can lead to severe hypoglycemia and provided you feel worse and not better or just suspect general disturbing sensations contact your physician at once.
