The medication is designed for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. As an effect it eases the urination process and after the therapy you may be able to do without prostate surgery. The mechanism of its functioning works in a way that it interferes with the transformation of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the latter being responsible for the illness progress. Avodart can be given either alone or in the combination with tamsulosin (Flomax).

The mode of administration presupposes the medication to be taken without any transformation as a whole. Consume it either with food or not and wash down with water. The medication should be kept in a cool and dry place.

It is prohibited to give the medication to women and children; it must not be even touched by them. Do not take the medicine provided you have intolerance response to the drug or resembling drugs like finasteride (Propecia, Proscar). It is recommended to refrain from blood donation during the therapy with the drug.

Though an overdose of Avodart is not considered to be harmful but it is recommended to be extremely careful.
