Carbatrol refers to anticonvulsants and functions by reducing nerve impulses responsible for pains and the appearance of seizures. The therapeutic indications are trigeminal neuralgia and diabetic neuropathy, and also bipolar disorder.

The medication has a list of precautions. Pregnant and breast-feeding women are forbidden to take the drug. Conditions of intolerance to antidepressants, experience with bone marrow suppression, heart problem of any kind, glaucoma; or else serve as contraindications for the usage of the medication. Refrain from combining it with MAO inhibitors and check all the medications on the account of their possible interaction with Carbatrol.

The medication is available in the form of the extended-release tablets that are supposed to be taken whole without any action upon it (breaking for instance).The effect develops gradually and it may take a while before you feel any change.
