Generic Crixivan Active Ingredient: Indinavir

Generic name of the medicine is indinavir. It's a preparation of an antiviral medication referring to the group of an HIV protease inhibitor and intended for prevention of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cells from spreading and growing. It can be taken in combination with other remedies of the same purpose for better efficiency. It does not cure HIV or AIDS.

The drug should be taken on a regular basis 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. Drink sufficient amounts of liquid being on the therapy with the drug and refrain from grapefruit products. Even if you feel better after a short period of treatment a full course should be competed in order for the medication to produce its effect. Do not make up for the left out dose taking two pills at once. Be careful giving it to kids.

Abstain from taking Crixivan provided it evokes hypersensitivity response in you. Problems with liver and kidneys, cirrhosis, diabetes, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, urinary or blood problems and any intolerance reactions should be considered before taking the medication. If you are in the state of pregnancy make your doctor aware of it; breast-feeding is forbidden when taking the drug and it is generally forbidden to women with AIDS or HIV. Be careful with alcohol beverages and refrain from unprotected sex as the drug doesn't guarantee safety from getting sexually transmitted diseases. It is crucial to be careful while combining the medication with different drugs and equally important not to take it simultaneously with alfuzosin, amiodarone, astemizole, atazanavir, certain benzodiazepines, certain HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, cisapride, conivaptan, an ergot alkaloid, erythromycin, pimozide, a proton pump inhibitor, ranolazine, rifampin, a serotonin 5-HT1 receptor antagonist, St. John's wort, or terfenadine for fear of their dangerous interaction.

It is important to remember that Crixivan is not a remedy for HIV or AIDS. Mind that the treatment with the medicine does not guarantee that HIV won't transfer to another person during sexual contact. The medication can have adverse effects and should you have disturbing symptoms, overdose or want to know about interaction with other drugs consult your doctor.
