Generic Desogen Active Ingredient: Desogestrel-ethinyl Estradiol

The generic name for the medication is ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel and it represents a female hormones compounding; it is indicated as a contraceptive and is used for the pregnancy prevention. It functions by staving off ovulation. Other brand names used: Apri, Cesia, Cyclessa, Kariva, Mircette, Ortho-Cept, Reclipsen, Solia, Velivet.

The mode of administration as very specific and depends on weather you start on your first period day or on the first Sunday after the period starts. The drug should be taken on a regular schedule not exceeding the amount. The tablets are presented in a 28-day birth control pack of 7 "reminder" pills for each day. Only one pill should be taken once a day. As soon as your pack is done take the following one next day. It is strictly recommended to be careful and not leave out a dose; provided it happened follow the specific regulations on the label precisely. Left out dose may be a reason of pregnancy, irregular usage of the medication cannot guarantee permanent contraceptive effect.

It is forbidden for the women that are already in the state of pregnancy or nursing. The following conditions are contraindicative for the therapy with the drug: a hormone-related cancer such as breast or uterine cancer, circulation problems, migraine headaches, abnormal vaginal bleeding, a history of jaundice, problems with liver or heart and some others. Refrain from smoking being on the therapy with the drug especially if you are older than 35 years old. Remember that the remedy does not guarantee the security from the HIV and AIDS. Be careful combining the drug with some medications such as antibiotics, seizure medicines, barbiturates, acetaminophen or ascorbic acid, and some others.
