The medication (generic name - dexamethasone) refers to steroids, functions by interfering with certain substances causing inflammations. Therapeutic indications: allergies, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, skin or breathing problems.

Contraindications: intolerance to dexamethasone; a fungal infection, diabetes, osteoporosis, glaucoma or cataracts, stomach ulcers, a thyroid disorder, and some others. The possible effects on the future child are not to be taken for sure, so pregnant and nursing women should consult the doctor before using it.

The remedy can evoke some adverse effects; in case of an abrupt termination it may evoke abstinence syndrome; it can weaken the immune system also.

Do not exceed the necessary amount and the prescribed time of administration. Take the pills on a regular basis. Should you leave out a dose do not make up for it taking two at once as it may evoke overdose and unwanted effects. Be careful combining the medication with other drugs, especially aspirin, diuretics, warfarin, cyclosporine and some others. Refrain from alcohol for the time of the therapy.
