Diltiazem refers to calcium channel blockers. Generic name is diltiazem. Therapeutic indications are hypertension and angina, also supraventricular tachycardia, a rhythm disturbance of the heart.

The drug must be used without any transformation; tablets taken whole with water; regular schedule must be adhered to. The medication should be taken during the whole period of therapy. Do not make up for the left out dose taking two pills at once. It is recommended to do without alcohol during the period of treatment.

Pregnant and nursing women should be careful with the medicine and get a proper consultation beforehand. Children are better not given the medication. Provided you have hypersensitivity to diltiazem make your doctor aware of it. "Sick sinus syndrome" or second- or third-degree heart block, atrial fibrillation or flutter and a pre-excitation syndrome , low blood pressure, a very slow heart rate, or abnormal heart rhythm, kidney or liver disease are contraindications for the therapy with the drug. Do not combine the remedy with cimetidine or protease inhibitors, rifampin, amiodarone, protease inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, beta-blockers, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, macrolide immunomodulators, and some others.
