Generic name of the medicine is valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide. It's a preparation of an angiotensin II receptor blocker and diuretic compounding. Therapeutic indication: hypertension.

Contraindications: intolerance to Diovan HCT or to any other sulfonamide medicine; current therapy with dofetilide or ketanserin; kidney or urination problems. If you are in the state of pregnancy or you are breast-feeding it is forbidden to take the drug. Other possible contraindications: dehydration, a severe reaction after taking any other angiotensin II receptor blocker or an ACE inhibitor, low blood volume, high blood calcium levels, asthma, diabetes, gout, and some others. The drug should be taken on a regular basis with sufficient amount of water. If you need to take cholestyramine or colestipol consult the doctor beforehand.
