Generic name of the medicine is hydroxyurea. It's a preparation of an antineoplastic agent and is intended for the reduction of the number of pains and blood transfusions required by adults with sickle cell anemia.

Contraindications: intolerance response to Droxia, conditions of severe bone marrow depression, low white blood cell counts or low blood platelet levels, or severe anemia. The following conditions may require additional attention: problems with liver and kidneys, other allergies. Pregnant and breast-feeding women are forbidden to take the drug because it can be harmful to a fetus and an infant. Do not combine the drug with didanosine.

The remedy is intended to be taken either with or without meals. You are advised to wash the hands before and after taking the drug. Do not use the medicine provided its shelf-life expired.
