Generic name of the drug is enalapril. Another brand name: Vasotec. It represents angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. Therapeutic indication: hypertension, heart failure, and other heart problems.

Contraindications: hypersensitivity to Enalapril or any ACE inhibitorscurrent therapy with dextran sulfate or a potassium-sparing diuretic. Other possible contraindications: other intolerance reactions, liver or kidney problems, bone marrow suppression, low blood counts, low blood sodium, porphyria, giant hives, lupus, scleroderma, narrowing or hardening of the arteries of the brain or heart, chest pain, and others. The medicine can interact with some other drugs such as: diuretics, NSAIDs, oral diabetes medicine, lithium or thiopurines, some gold-containing medicines, and some others. Do not give the drug to kids. Pregnant and breast-feeding women are forbidden to take the medication in order not to harm a fetus and a baby.

The drug must be taken according to the prescription on a regular basis either with food or not. In case you left out a dose do not try to make up for it taking two at once. It can have serious consequences. Refrain from drinking alcohol.
