Generic name of the medicine is carbamazepine; another brand name is Tegretol. It's a preparation of an anticonvulsant and is intended for control of some epileptic seizures. It can cure pain of the jaw or cheek originating from a facial nerve problem and also trifacial neuralgia pains. It bars certain nerve impulses in the brain.

Contraindications: intolerance response to Epitol and tricyclic antidepressants, cyclobenzaprine, or resembling medications, a history of bone marrow problems, porphyria, atrioventricular block, recent therapy with nefazodone and MAOI. Other possible contraindications: seizures, glaucoma, mood or mental problems, high blood cholesterol, hypertension and etc. Pregnant and breast-feeding women are forbidden to take it.

The remedy is intended to be taken either with meals or not on a regular basis. It is required whole course of treatment was completed and no abrupt termination in administration made. Do not make up for a left out dose taking more medicine at a time than needed. Be careful giving it to elderly people. Refrain from grapefruit products.

Epitol has a list of adverse effects; it can make you giddy and sleepy and less resistant to infections and more sun-sensitive. In case you experience any disturbing sensations or suspect an overdose apply to your physician or other healthcare provider.
