Generic Fansidar Active Ingredient: Sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine

Generic name of the medicine is pyrimethamine/sulfadoxine. It's a preparation of an antimalarial agent and is intended for the treatment and prevention of malaria in the situation when the previously used medications failed to help. It functions by blocking the folinic acid formation therefore killing the parasite.

Contraindications: intolerance response to pyrimethamine or any other ingredient in the drug or to any other sulfonamide medicine, serious kidney or liver condition or some blood problems. The following conditions may require additional attention: a history of asthma, porphyria or other blood problems, G-6-PD, seizures, or depression and some others. Do not combine the drug with methotrexate. Pregnant and breast-feeding women are forbidden to take the drug because it can be harmful to a fetus and an infant.

The remedy is intended to be taken after meals. You are required to take the drug whole and without any transformation. It is recommended to drink enough liquid being on the therapy with Fansidar. Should you leave out a dose do not make up for it taking two at once as it may evoke overdose and unwanted effects. Be careful giving it to elderly people; do not use it in children younger than 2 months old. Do not use the medicine provided its shelf-life expired. Abstain from excessive sunlight.
