Generic name of the medicine is glyburide and metformin. It's a a sulfonylurea and biguanide antidiabetic compounding. Therapeutic indication: type 2 diabetes.

Contraindications: intolerance to Glucovance, a stroke or a recent heart attack, low blood oxygen levels, kidney or liver problems, high blood ketone or acid levels, recent or planned surgery, current therapy with bosentan. Problems with liver, other intolerance reactions, heart problems, lung or breathing problems, vomiting, diarrhea, poor health or nutrition, low blood calcium or vitamin B12 levels, or anemia, type 1 diabetes, adrenal or pituitary problems, or lactic acidosis, G6PD deficiency, an infection, fever or recent injury - all this should be considered before taking the medication. If you are in the state of pregnancy or you are breast-feeding it is not recommended to take the drug. It is crucial to be careful while combining the medication with different drugs (especially with beta-blockers, anticoagulants, azole antifungals, MAOIs, NSAIDs, salicylates, thiazolidinediones, calcium channel blockers, corticosteroids, gemfibrozil, cyclosporine, and some others) for fear of their undesirable interaction.

The drug should be taken on a regular basis with food. The medication should be taken even in the case that your condition seems to actually improve quickly; the therapy should be completed. Do not make up for the left out dose taking two pills at once. Do not exceed the necessary amount or the prescribed period. Be very careful giving the remedy to kids younger than 9 years of age and to elderly people.
