Generic name of the drug is losartan and hydrochlorothiazide. It represents a compounding of angiotensin II receptor blocker and diuretic. Therapeutic indication: hypertension.

Contraindications: hypersensitivity to Hyzaar or to any other sulfonamide medicine, liver or kidney problems, current therapy with dofetilide or ketanserin. Other possible contraindications: other intolerance reactions, dehydration, low blood volume or low blood sodium, chloride, potassium, or magnesium levels, also high blood calcium levels, asthma, diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus, and others. The medicine can interact with some other drugs such as: adrenocorticotropic hormone, cholestyramine, NSAIDs, barbiturates, corticosteroids, lithium, nondepolarizing muscle relaxants, narcotic pain medicines, diabetes medicine, insulin, or pressor amines, and some others. Do not give the drug to kids. Pregnant women and nursing ones are prohibited to take it.

The remedy is usually taken on a regular basis either with meals or not. Do not exceed the prescribed period and the necessary amount. Should you leave out a dose do not take a double one to make it up. It is also required that the whole course of therapy was completed.

The adverse effects can be expected in some cases. Should you have any worrying sensations like sleepiness or giddiness, suspect an overdose or have some questions apply to your physician or other healthcare provider.
