Generic name of the medicine is levothyroxine. It is a thyroid hormone. Therapeutic indication: hypothyroidism and also some kinds of goiter. It is also presupposed for the managing certain types of thyroid cancer.

Contraindications: intolerance response to Levoxyl, a heart attack, high thyroid hormone levels or an adrenal gland problem. Other possible contraindications: fertility problems, heart or blood vessel problems, coronary artery disease, anemia, diabetes, history of blood clots, and some others. The drug can be also incompatible with many other remedies therefore you should be careful taking them together. Pregnant women are recommended to consult a doctor before taking the drug and breast-feeding ones are forbidden to take it.

The remedy is intended to be taken on a regular basis and wash down with sufficient amount of water. Do not make up for a left out dose taking more medicine at a time than needed. Do not terminate the administration abruptly. The drug requires time to show its effect. Iron or calcium containing products are required to be taken at least 4 hours before or 4 hours after you take levothyroxine.
