Generic Lopressor

Generic name of the medicine is metoprolol. It's a preparation of a beta-blocker and is intended for the prevention of chest pain and treatment of hypertension. The drug can be taken alone or in combination with other drugs of the same purpose. In some cases concerning irregular heart rhythm it might be used in the purpose of its stabilization.

Contraindications: intolerance response to Lopressor or resembling beta-blocker, bradycardia, certain types of irregular heartbeat,heart failure,low systolic blood pressure or severe blood circulation problems, therapy with mibefradil. Other possible contraindications: bronchitis, asthma, an adrenal gland tumor, an overactive thyroid, COPD, diabetes, liver problems, and some others. The drug can be incompatible with amiodarone, bupropion, certain HIV protease inhibitors, SSRIs, barbiturates, indomethacin, phenylpropanolamine, hormonal contraceptives, clonidine, bupivacaine, disopyramide and some others therefore you should be careful taking them together. Pregnant women should consult a doctor on the account of drug administration; breast-feeding ones are prohibited to take it.

The remedy is intended to be taken with water on a regular basis either with or after you have a meal. Should you leave out a dose do not make up for it taking two at once as it may evoke overdose and unwanted effects. Do not stop taking the drug abruptly. Do not use it in children.

Metoprolol can make you giddy and sleepy and has other adverse effects. Provided you have intolerance response to the drug or suspect an overdose apply to your physician or other healthcare provider.
