Generic name of the medicine is ethinyl estradiol. The preparation refers to synthetic estrogens and functions by preventing ovulation and as a natural estrogen supplement when the body is unable to produce enough of it itself. It is a contraceptive pill. Other therapeutic indications: symptoms of menopause, some cases of breast and prostate cancers, delayed sexual development in females, severe acne in women (if taken in combination with cyproterone).
