Generic name of the medicine is nitrofurantoin. The preparation refers to antibiotics and functions by killing certain bacteria. Therapeutic indications: the cure of urinary tract contagions. The drug is not presupposed for viral infections.

The medication is supposed to be taken on a regular basis with sufficient amount of water while you eat. Do not exceed the necessary amount or the prescribed period of administration; a full course should be competed in order for the medication to produce its effect. Should you leave out a dose do not make up for it taking two at once.

Contraindications or conditions that may require doctor's consideration: intolerance response to Macrodantin, decreased kidney function, decreased urination or problems with urination, conditions of anemia, diabetes, electrolyte problems, G6PD, kidney , liver, nerve or lung problems,low levels of vitamin B in your blood and some others. The medication is incompatible with probenecid or sulfinpyrazone. Abstain from taking antacids containing magnesium trisilicate. Refrain from alcohol being on the therapy with the drug. It should be used with the extreme care in elderly people and never in kids. Women at term and in labor are forbidden to take the medicine as well as breastfeeding ones.

The medicine can make you giddy and sleepy and impair your lung, live and nerve conditions in some cases. In case you experience any ill-effects or you overdosed apply to your doctor for help.
