The medication is intended for the patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent). It functions by making pancreas release insulin and controlling sugar levels in blood. Patients with type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent) are not treated with this medication.

A state of diabetic ketoacidosis; problems with the heart, liver or eyes, congestive heart failure, a severe infection, a planned surgery, G6PD, provided you are older than 80 years of age or just hypersensitive to the medication, states of pregnancy or nursing - all of these conditions and some else can serve as contraindications for the usage of the drug and should be decided upon by the doctor. Refrain from alcohol and be cautious when combining Metaglip with other medications (such as beta-blockers, anticoagulants, calcium channel blockers, gemfibrozil and some others) as they can bring about unpredictable results.

The medication must be taken on a regular basis strictly according to the prescription no longer and not exceeding the necessary amount. Metaglip is usually taken with food. Do not make up for a left out dose taking more medicine at a time than needed. Notify your doctor about how the therapy goes and do not stop taking the remedy unless your doctor tells you otherwise. The therapy also includes dieting and a complex of physical exercises as a rule.

The medicine can evoke some adverse effect. Provided you feel worse and not better during the treatment, should you take overdose or just suspect general disturbing sensations contact your healthcare provider at once.
