Generic name of the medicine is isosorbide mononitrate. The preparation refers to nitrate vasodilators and functions by widening the blood vessels in the body. Therapeutic indication is angina (chest pain) originating from heart disease.

The medication is supposed to be taken on a regular basis either with meals or not. The remedy should be taken two times a day with the interval of 7 hours; no termination of administration should be made at self-will. Do not exceed the necessary amount or the prescribed period of administration. Should you leave out a dose do not make up for it taking two at once. Do not use it in children.

Contraindications or conditions that may require doctor's consideration: intolerance response to Monoket or to resembling nitrate medications, if you are on the therapy with phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (i.e. sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil) or drink alcohol, provided you have heart or blood problems, condition of dehydration and some other conditions. The medicine can be harmful for a fetus and a baby therefore pregnant and nursing women are advised to consult the doctor before taking it. The medication is incompatible with calcium channel blockers.

Moduretic can make you giddy and sleepy and has other adverse effects. Adverse effects of the medication can be mild and severe and in case you experience any, or you overdosed apply to your doctor for help.
