Generic name of the drug is norethindrone. It represents a progestin hormone and refers to oral contraceptives. It is generally used for prevention of pregnancy.

The administration of the drug should not be taken if you have an unusual or allergic reaction to progestins, other medicines, abnormal vaginal bleeding, a history of blood clots, liver problems, breast cancer, or genital cancer, stroke, and etc. The medicine should not be taken by pregnant and nursing women. It is recommended to be careful while combining the remedy with acitretin, aprepitant, azole antifungals, beta-adrenergic blockers, lamotrigine and some others.

Ortho Micronor is taken every day either with or without food according to the instruction on the label. It is better to start the therapy on the first day of your menstrual period; and also additional methods of birth control are recommended for the forthcoming 48-hour period. It is advised to be careful and not miss doses as it can make the performance of the drug less effective. Provided it happened apply to your doctor for advice.
