The generic name for the medication is erythromycin. It is a preparation of a macrolide antibiotic and is indicated for the treatment of various contagions. It is not presupposed for the cases of viral infections.

The following conditions are contraindicative for the therapy with the drug: intolerance to PCE, current therapy with astemizole, cisapride, cyclosporine, dofetilide, an HIV protease inhibitor, an imidazole, a QT-prolonging agent, a quinolone, a streptogramin, sumatriptan, and some others. Other possible contraindications are: diarrhea or a stomach or intestinal infection, heart problems, fast or irregular heartbeat, kidney or liver illness, myasthenia gravis, or porphyria. The following preparations might be incompatible with the remedy: efavirenz, rifampin, anticoagulants, aldosterone blockers, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, macrolide immunosuppressants, phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, QT-prolonging agents, serotonin reuptake inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, and some others. Pregnant women are recommended to consult a doctor before taking the drug and breast-feeding ones are prohibited to take it.

The mode of administration requires that the drug is taken on a regular basis every day not exceeding the amount. Do not make any transformation to a pill; take it whole. Should you leave out a dose do not take a double one to make it up. It is also required that the whole course of therapy was completed. Abstain from grapefruit products and alcohol.

The drug can cause diarrhea and evoke the second infection. Should you have any worrying sensations, suspect an overdose or have some questions apply to your physician or other healthcare provider.
