Generic name of the drug is paroxetine. It represents a SSRI. Therapeutic indications: depression, panic disorder, or social anxiety disorder and also premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

Contraindications: hypersensitivity to Paxil, current therapy with linezolid, a MAOI, selegiline, or St. John's wort, fenfluramine derivative , nefazodone, pimozide, SNRI, another SSRI, sibutramine, thioridazine, or tryptophan. Other possible contraindications: other intolerance reactions, a history of bipolar disorder, seizures, heart, liver or kidney problems, low blood sodium levels, also stomach or bowel bleeding, narrow-angle glaucoma, conditions of diabetes or metabolism problems, dehydration, and others. The medicine can interact with some other drugs such as: anorexiants, lithium, serotonin 5-HT1 receptor agonists, anticoagulants, NSAIDs, diuretics, antiarrhythmics, cyproheptadine, HIV protease inhibitors, and some others. Be cautious giving the medicine to the kids. Pregnant women and breast-feeding ones are prohibited to take it.
