Generic Pyridium Active Ingredient: Phenazopyridine

Pyridium is intended to affect contagions of the lower urinary tract. Being a pain reliever it influences the urethra and the bladder. It relieves burning, increased and painful urination. It does not actually cure the infection. The generic name is phenazopyridine; other brand names are Azo-Gesic, Azo-Standard, Baridium, Phenazo, Prodium, Pyridiate, Pyridium, Re-Azo, Uricalm, Uristat.

The medication is contraindicated in case of allergic response to the phenazopyridine. Other contraindications are states of pregnancy and breast-feeding, intolerance to substances or other drugs, G6PD, diabetes, liver illness or else. Be careful when taking the medication in complex with other drugs. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant and nursing.

The medication is not presupposed to be taken more than two days in a row. Wash the pills down with water. In case you left out a dose do not try to make up for it taking two at once. Refrain from wearing soft contact lenses.

Pyridium has a number of adverse effects (sleepiness is among them). In case you experience any, have sighs of overdose or intolerance reaction apply for medical aid at once.
