The drug refers to oral bronchodilator medications. Generic name is theophylline. Therapeutic indications are reversible bronchospasm associated with asthma or COPD.

The medication represents a sustain-release medication. The usual starting dosage is 300 mg/day divided every 12 h. Once-daily administration should be considered only after gradual titration to therapeutic levels with 12-h dosing. Once-daily dosing is stated after the twice 2-h dose and should be started at the end of the last 12-h interval. The medication should be taken during the whole period of therapy. Do not make up for the left out dose taking two pills at once. Abstain from smoking.

Provided you have intolerance to the drug or resembling medicines make your doctor aware of it. An active peptic ulcer or, cardiac arrhythmias, or seizure disorders and other serious conditions can be contraindications for the therapy with the drug. Do not combine the remedy with any drugs before you check the interaction with the doctor (this refers to acyclovir, allopurinol, calcium channel blockers, corticosteroids, estrogen-containing hormonal contraceptives, macrolide antibiotics, nonselective beta-blockers, aminoglutethimide, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, beta-agonists, rrythromycin, nondepolarizing muscle relaxants, and some others). Pregnant and nursing women should not take the medication without a proper consultation.
