Generic Thorazine Active Ingredient: Chlorpromazine

Generic name of the medicine is chlorpromazine. It's a preparation of a phenothiazine that is intended for the treatment of mental or mood disorders, severe behavioral and conduct disorders in children, the manic phase of manic-depressive disorder, anxiety and restlessness before surgery, porphyria, nausea and vomiting, and severe hiccups.

Contraindications: intolerance to Thorazine or resembling medicines; current therapy with CNS depressant medicines, stemizole, certain antiarrhythmic agents and some other drugs; bone marrow problems. Heart problems, low blood pressure, enlarged prostate gland, seizures or epilepsy, asthma, lung infection, or other lung problems, and some others should be considered before taking the medication. Be careful while combining the medication with different drugs and pay attention to the following medicines: beta-blockers, thiazide diuretics, arsenic, astemizole, anticholinergics, anticoagulants, guanethidine, and pergolide, and some others for fear of their dangerous interaction. Pregnant women are recommended to consult a doctor before taking the drug and breast-feeding ones are prohibited to take it.

The drug should be taken on a regular basis. Do not make up for the left out dose taking two pills at once. Be careful giving the drug to elderly people and kids.
