It is a preparation of a calcium channel blocker (generic name of the drug is diltiazem hydrochloride). Therapeutic indication: angina caused by heart disease and hypertension.

Contraindications: hypersensitive response to the drug; current therapy with erythromycin; heart problems, very low blood pressure, or fluid buildup in the lungs during or soon after a heart attack, atrial fibrillation or flutter and a preexcitation syndrome. Other possible contraindications: heart failure, a recent heart attack or heart block, low blood pressure, a very slow heart rate, other heart problems, liver or kidney illness. The medicine can be dangerous for a fetus and infant therefore pregnant and nursing women are advised to consult the doctor before taking it. Tiazac ER can interact with other drugs therefore it is better to check their compatibility with the doctor.

The mode of administration: do not make any transformation to the extended-release tablets; take them whole. Should you leave out a dose do not try to make up for it taking a double one.

The medication has a number of adverse effects. Should you experience any troublesome sensations contact your doctor immediately.
