It is a preparation of a calcium channel blocker (generic name of the drug is diltiazem hydrochloride). Therapeutic indication: angina caused by heart disease and hypertension.

The mode of administration: do not make any transformation to the tablets; take them whole. Should you leave out a dose do not try to make up for it taking a double one. Adhere to the dosage instructions. Take all the pills at about the same period daily on a regular scedule. This ensures that you have a level amount of the drug in your system. Tiazac XL can interact with other drugs therefore it is better to check their compatibility with the doctor.

Contraindications: hypersensitive response to the drug; heart problems, very low blood pressure, atrial fibrillation or flutter and a preexcitation syndrome. Other possible contraindications: heart failure, a recent heart attack or heart block, low blood pressure, a very slow heart rate, other heart problems, liver or kidney illness. The medicine can be dangerous for a fetus and infant therefore pregnant and nursing women are advised to consult the doctor before taking it.
