Generic name of the medicine is ticlopidine. It is a preparation of a platelet aggregation inhibitor. Therapeutic indication: intended to lessen the risk of stroke. Another indication: prevention of a blood clot forming after a stent is placed in the coronary artery.

Contraindications: intolerance response to Ticlid, an active bleeding disorder, a blood disease, thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic anemia, or problems with liver. Other possible contraindications: an increased risk of bleeding that might be caused by trauma or surgery, a stomach ulcer, or liver or kidney problems, any hypersensitivity reactions. The drug can be also incompatible with anticoagulants, aspirin, heparin, NSAIDs, antacids, carbamazepine, theophylline, cyclosporine, phenytoin, and some others therefore you should be careful taking them together. Pregnant women are recommended to consult a doctor before taking the drug and breast-feeding ones are prohibited to take it.

The remedy is intended to be taken on a regular basis with meals. Follow the administration instruction precisely. Do not exceed the necessary dose. Do not make up for a left out dose taking more medicine at a time than needed.
