Generic name of the medicine is pentoxifylline. It is a preparation of a xanthine derivative blood flow enhancer. Therapeutic indication: intermittent claudication in certain patients.

Contraindications: intolerance response to Trental or to methylxanthines, recent bleeding in the brain or eye. Other possible contraindications: ulcers, blood vessel problems, hypertension, kidney problems, or a history of bleeding in the eye, recent surgery. The drug can be also incompatible with anticoagulants or theophyllines, and some others therefore you should be careful taking them together.
