Generic name of the medicine is fenofibrate. It is a preparation of a lipid-lowering agent. Therapeutic indication: high cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. It is presupposed to be taken together with low-cholesterol and saturated fat diet.

Contraindications: intolerance response to Tricor, gallbladder problems, liver or kidney problems. Other possible contraindications: diabetes, an underactive thyroid, pancreatitis, blood clots in veins, heart blood vessel problems, certain muscle problems, provided you are overweight or are on therapy with a beta-blocker, estrogen, or thiazide diuretic. The drug can be also incompatible with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, immunosuppressants, NSAIDs, amphotericin B, aminoglycoside antibiotics, anticoagulants or sulfonylureas, and some others therefore you should be careful taking them together. Pregnant and breast-feeding women are recommended to consult a doctor before taking the drug.

The remedy is intended to be taken on a regular basis washed down with water. Do not make any transformation to a pill; it should be consumed whole. Do not exceed the necessary dose. The interval of 4 to 6 hours before or 1 hour after taking Tricor should be made if you take a bile acid-binding resin. It is advised that full course of treatment was completed and not recommended to stop administration abruptly. Do not make up for a left out dose taking more medicine at a time than needed.
