Generic Trileptal

Generic name of the medicine is oxcarbazepine. It is a preparation of an anticonvulsant. Therapeutic indication: seizures in patients with epilepsy. It is presupposed for the reduction of abnormal nerve impulses in the brain.

Contraindications: intolerance response to Trileptal. Other possible contraindications: allergy to carbamazepine, a history of mental or mood problems, kidney or liver problems or low blood sodium levels. The drug can be also incompatible with carbamazepine, hydantoins, henobarbital, sotretinoin, cyclosporine, felodipine, hormonal contraceptives, tramadol, tricyclic antidepressants, and some others therefore you should be careful taking them together. Pregnant and breast-feeding women are forbidden to take the drug.

The remedy is intended to be taken on a regular basis and according to strict schedule. Do not exceed the necessary dose. It is advised that the full course of treatment was completed and not recommended to stop administration abruptly. Do not make up for a left out dose taking more medicine at a time than needed.

Trileptal has a list of adverse effects; it can make you sleepy and giddy and impair your vision. Provided you experience any disturbing sensations or suspect an overdose apply to your physician or other healthcare provider.
