Generic Uniphyl Cr

Generic name of the drug is theophylline. The medication refers to oral bronchodilator medications. Therapeutic indications are reversible asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema.

The drug is a xanthine derivative therefore allergy to the drug or resembling medicines is a contraindicative factor for its usage. Other contraindications: current therapy with large amounts of other products that contain xanthine; dipyridamole; halothane, or St. John's wort; also heart and liverproblems, fever, viral infection, brain or nerve problems, seizures and other serious conditions. Do not combine the remedy with any drugs before you check the interaction with the doctor (this refers to aminoglutethimide, barbiturates, beta-blockers, macrolide antibiotics, oral contraceptives, ephedrine, ketamine, benzodiazepines, and some others). Pregnant (especially in the last trimester) and nursing women should not take the medication without a proper consultation as it might be harmful for a baby and for a fetus.

The medication represents a controlled-release medication. Do not make any transformation to the pills. The medication should be taken during the whole period of therapy. Do not make up for the left out dose taking two pills at once. There is a list of adverse effect that can happen and if you experience any disturbing symptoms or have had an overdose consult your doctor immediately.
