Generic name of the medicine is doxycycline hyclate. Another brand name is Vibramycin. It's a preparation of a tetracycline antibiotic that is intended for the treatment of certain bacterial infections, also some acne or certain amoeba infections.

The drug should be taken on a regular basis. In order to gain the most effect from the treatment the drug should be taken during the whole course. Do not make up for the left out dose taking two pills at once. Make an interval of 2 hours before or after you take Vibra-Tab if you need to take antacid containing aluminum, calcium, or magnesium, also bismuth-containing products, iron or multivitamins with minerals. Do not exceed the necessary dose. Be careful giving the drug to kids.

Pregnant and breast-feeding women are forbidden to take the drug in order not to harm a baby and an infant. Other contraindications for the usage of the medicine: hypersensitive reaction to Vibra-Tab or to another tetracycline; current therapy with acitretin, isotretinoin, or penicillin, or a live oral typhoid vaccine received lately. The following conditions should also be considered before taking the medication: diarrhea, a history of lupus, or porphyria. Be careful while combining the medication with different drugs and pay special attention to the following medicines: acitretin, anticoagulants, birth control pills, iron, urinary alkalinizers, barbiturates, hydantoins, digoxin, isotretinoin, methotrexate, methoxyflurane, and some others for fear of their unbdesirable interaction.
