Generic name of the medicine is doxycycline hyclate. It's a preparation of a tetracycline antibiotic that is intended for the treatment of certain bacterial infections, also some acne or certain amoeba infections

Contraindications: intolerance to Vibramycin or to another tetracycline; current therapy with acitretin, isotretinoin, or a penicillin, or a live oral typhoid vaccine received lately. Diarrhea, a history of lupus, or porphyria should be considered before taking the medication. Be careful while combining the medication with different drugs and pay attention to the following medicines: acitretin, anticoagulants, birth control pills, iron, urinary alkalinizers, barbiturates, hydantoins, digoxin, isotretinoin, methotrexate, methoxyflurane, and some others for fear of their dangerous interaction. Pregnant and breast-feeding women are forbidden to take the drug in order not to harm a baby and an infant.

The drug should be taken on a regular basis with water. In order to gain the most effect from the treatment the drug should be taken during the whole course. Do not make up for the left out dose taking two pills at once. Make an interval of 2 hours before or after you take Vibramycin if you need to take antacid containing aluminum, calcium, or magnesium, also bismuth-containing products, iron or multivitamins with minerals. Do not exceed the necessary dose. Be careful giving the drug to kids.
